Excerpt
Slowly, reluctantly, an appendage flexed out from behind the robot, its digits delicately curved around the neck of a mangled and misshapen violin, sticky with varnish and minus its strings. Zeb took it from the metal hand and, holding it carefully to avoid transferring the mess to himself, he turned it over.
Bio
Charlie Allery no longer works in a box factory, but hopes to find equally mind-numbing work in deepest Somerset, UK, in the near future. Her fiction has appeared in Farthing Magazine and she is the 3rd place winner of the 2008 James Patrick Baen memorial writing contest. Charlie continues to own too many tools and currently has too few cats, but is hopeful that one of these problems has a reasonable solution.
Writing Description
Straightforward storytelling with occasional forays into the slightly strange.
Goals
Write at least 250 words of new fiction every day. I have a number of short stories that are languishing in an unfinished state. I plan to work my way through the list, using my daily word count to finish them one by one.
Fundraising goal: to raise at least $100.
