Christopher Brummet
Excerpt:
The world we live in does not obey the rules of our society, government nor moral code. It does not abide by the rules of normalcy. It is full of war, chaos, cruel words and harsher judgments. Imagine if you will that we could not become extraordinary. Imagine that we could not rise above what the world sets out for us, and were all locked into being average, ordinary and normal. This is the gravest of all insults and the pinnacle of human failure; for if we were all normal, the world would rip us apart.
Bio:
I'm a husband, father, and believer in the power of a good story. I write for myself primarily, though once in a while what I write seems to infect others with the desire to ignore their bedtimes and keep reading until the alarm clock scolds them.I'm a Clarion West hopeful who learned of this excellent organization from a Mr. Neil Gaiman, one of my all-time respected and favored authors. With the help of my peers, audience, and mentors from all professions, I hope to one day be capable of taking those who read my words on the same kind of enjoyable journeys I have happily experienced from book and screen.I live in Calgary with my wonderful wife Asenia and our ever-amazing son Simeon. Caffeinated beverages have been known to bribe me into writing plot-point requests...so long as they are good. (Both the caffeine and the request.)
Publications:
"Do Not Touch," Every Day Fiction, Nov. 26, 2010
Writing Description:
I tend to write how I think: erratic, disjointed, passionate, and having far too much fun most of the time. Science fiction and fantasy are generally my cups of tea, though I have been known to pick randomly from the menu.
Writing Goals:
Daily progress. Specifically, I'm hoping to be pounding out at least a 1,000 words a night on average, or editing and revising at a likewise steady pace.
Fundraising Goals:
I'm not certain what to aim for, so I'll just hope that any funds coming into the program are from people who are interested in Clarion West and also think it to be a wonderful idea.
