Excerpt:
Never would Kindle have envisioned a morning when he’d be glad to see the sun rise, but he was not in any position to help himself. The tentacular tendrils of the heretofore detested orb tickled the surface of the river Streamline, rewarded by liquid luminescence like so many pools of laughter, and Kindle laughed with them. He hazarded a subversive thought. It feels good to be alive.
Bio:
Giulia I. Sandelewski is an SFF writer and poet working towards a PhD in Shakespeare, because day jobs don't get much better than hanging around libraries researching the masters of the past. Her only connection to Clarion West Writers Workshop is that she might as well put her adrenalinic love-love relationship with deadlines to the service of a good cause.
Publications:
"Chapter Two: Smoking Laurels" - Fostering Guilt (2011), King's College London Creative Writing 2009-2010"Stringed Saviour" and "Just a Little Prayer" - Poesia Malgrado Tutto, Ricerca e Didattica: Quaderni dell'Istituto Statale Virgilio, edited by Gabriella Brusa Zeppellini (Milan: Principato, 2007)
Writing Description:
I simply go about my craft without holding much truck with the imaginary lines between mediums. Storytelling is what is important; whether the story be told in lyrical prose or narrative poetry is immaterial and borderline uninteresting.
Writing Goals:
Overall Aim:To get the novel (wordcount: 80,636) past the 100,000 mark by July 29th - despite the 12,000 dissertationThe Daily Challenge:1. Mon-Fri (a.m.) - write for 3 hours (1,000+)2. Sat-Sun (a.m.) - edit for 3 hours (2,000+)3. Mon-Sun (p.m.) - blog on my progress (500)
Fundraising Goals:
I aim to raise at least $100 for the Clarion West Writers Workshop. Upon meeting and hopefully obliterating this goal, I hereby pledge to write a 4,000 word short story for each sponsor; each tale will be individually tailored according to, e.g,. a concept, image, character, first/last line, etc., at the sponsor's discretion.
