From the novel:
She was lying there on her face, and her right arm had been torn off at the elbow. Her legs were gone, and probably her other arm was gone too -- stood to figure -- but she was still moving across the sidewalk, scooting herself along by setting her forehead against the pavement and pulling herself up an inch or so at a time, her neck arching up and then her torso following along, like some demented version of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
