Excerpt

Seeing Bernardino in the ad wasn't the same as doing Story, no. Rather, it was like seeing a public image of your lover while carrying the private knowledge of intimacy close to one's heart. That moment when he was standing behind her as she played the new piece on the clavicembalo, his hands on her shoulder, his thighs, belly, and erection nudging lightly against her back—that moment was burned into her memory, inscribed on her body.
