Excerpt
The Green Witch tried not to shiver as the cold fingers followed the contours of her body. She wondered how much detail the fingers took in, how accurately the soul "saw" her recently cursed face with its river delta of wrinkles spilling from her hairline down, the skin of her cheeks as thin as the onionskin paper in the books of the Wizard Örsze. Her curls, once blonde, were now as gray as driftwood, tangled and stringy. The sword of the White Witch's shadow creature had only sliced open her left cheek. She'd stopped the life-stealing magic from spreading too far, but she hadn't been able to reverse it. Her body remained young, with firm skin, wide and welcoming hips, and elegant arms.
- from Harp of Stars, the first book in the Six Kingdoms trilogy.
Bio
Leah R. Cutter is the author of three historical fantasy novels as well as several fantasy, science fiction, and horror short stories. Her most recent novel, The Jaguar and the Wolf, (Roc 2005) is about what happens when a group of Vikings encounter the Mayans. Leah loves to travel for research and adventure and has wandered around Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, and South America. She has had odd jobs all over the world, including digging up a twelfth century manor house in England, teaching English in Taiwan, and tending bar in Thailand.
Leah lives in Seattle, WA. For the day job, she works as a technical writer for a California software firm. Her hobbies include home improvement (just ask how the remodel of her bathroom went this year), working out, doing Qi Gong, reading, eating really good food, and goofing off.

Writing Description
For novel length work, I tend to do strictly genre. The first three novels are all historic fantasy, and all stand-alone. The next three novels are all epic fantasy and a trilogy. My short fiction is all over the place--I've written horror, fantasy, and hard SF as well as stories that aren't easily categorized.
Goals
As part of my process, I write the first draft out by hand, generally getting to the end of the hand written draft of two chapters before I stop, go back, and type them up. My goal is to either hand write a chapter or type a chapter every week. Typing a chapter a week won't be as difficult as hand writing a chapter a week, but it wouldn't be Clarion West without a challenge! My chapters tend to be between 5000-6000 words.
My company will match donations up to $500. You can't donate through the regular system, though; you have to send the money to me directly. You won't be able to declare it as a donation for your taxes either. But I will double your contribution. So it's up to you. My goal is to raise $150, then double it to $300. I will ask people to donate $10.
Website
I tend to blog about writing when I'm in the writing phase. When I'm in the revising phase, I tend to not blog as much. I will quite possibly be doing a lot of blogging these next few weeks on my Livejournal.
